The fans of Tamil actors Vijay and Trisha are celebrating the re-release of their blockbuster hit Ghilli (2004). The film is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Saturday, 20 April.
The makers re-released Ghilli in select theatres in Tamil Nadu and abroad.
Needless to say, the cinema halls wore a festive look with fans decorating the premises with flowers and confetti and putting up huge cut-outs of their favourite star hero.
The videos of fans celebrating Ghilli re-release by dancing to the songs “Arjunar Villu” and “Appadi Podu” in theatres went viral on social media.
The advanced bookings for the film already commenced a couple of days ago. According to trade experts, the film is expected to collect ₹10 crore and become the all-time-highest-grosser on the opening day.
A remake of the Telugu blockbuster Okkadu (2003), starring Mahesh Babu and Bhumika, Ghilli grossed over ₹50 crore in 2004 itself.
While Vijay and Trisha played the lead, Prakash Raj reprised his role in the Tamil remake, too.
Overjoyed with the response to Ghilli re-release, Prakash Raj wrote: “Hi Chellam sssss. We are back 🔥#GhilliReRelease”
Directed by Dharani, the Tamil film was produced by AM Rathnam. Vidyasagar composed the music and background score.
Meanwhile, Vijay is fast wrapping up his new film Greatest of All Time(GOAT). It is drawing huge expectations since director Venkat Prabhu is helming the movie.
